Hey everyone! I’m completely new to cryptocurrency and just made my first purchase of TAO tokens on a centralized exchange. I keep reading everywhere that you should never leave your crypto on exchanges, so I want to move my tokens to a secure wallet.
I’ve also been hearing about something called staking where you can earn rewards while keeping your coins safe. Can someone explain how this works for TAO specifically? What kind of returns can I expect from staking - is it paid out daily, weekly, or monthly?
My main concern is whether staking locks up my tokens for a fixed period. If I stake my TAO, can I withdraw both my original investment and any earned rewards whenever I want, or am I committed to keeping them staked for a certain timeframe?
Any guidance would be really helpful since I’m still learning about all this stuff. Thanks!
Oh wow, TAO’s a really interesting first crypto pick! What made you choose it over the usual beginner coins like Bitcoin or Ethereum? I’m genuinely curious about your research process.
You’re right about getting off exchanges. But have you checked if TAO works with major hardware wallets yet? Newer tokens often have limited wallet support, so worth verifying compatibility before buying hardware.
For staking - TAO uses Yuma Consensus, which isn’t your typical “click to stake” setup. Anyone here actually run TAO validators? What are the real technical requirements and minimum token amounts?
Also @SingingSnow, how deep did you dive into Bittensor before jumping in? I’m always curious what draws people to technical projects like this. You planning to get involved in the AI/ML side or just treating it as an investment?
Just started with TAO recently, so I get your concerns. Definitely move your tokens off exchanges - I’d go with a Ledger hardware wallet for security. TAO’s consensus is pretty different from normal proof-of-stake though. Instead of regular staking, you’re looking at delegating to validators, which gets technical fast. I’d say just park your tokens safely on a hardware wallet for now while you learn the ecosystem. More user-friendly options will probably pop up later.
welcome to the crypto world! just a heads up - tnking about staking with TAO isn’t as simple. it involves running subnets and validators which can be complex. i suggest getting a cold wallet like Trezor to keep ur tokens safe and hodl till u grasp the tech better.
