Does learning blockchain technology still hold value in 2025?

I’m a university student who has recently become fascinated with blockchain, Web3, and cryptography. I’ve come across several viewpoints suggesting that blockchain is outdated and that Web3 no longer offers significant benefits. Given these contrasting opinions, is it still a wise investment of my time to delve into blockchain technology? Does this field promise a viable future, or have its prospects already diminished?

Based on my experience, blockchain technology still holds value as we approach and move beyond 2025. In my work, I’ve noticed increased interest in applying blockchain for secure record-keeping and digital identity management, which indicates that its utility is far from over. While many aspects of Web3 have faced criticism, the foundations provided by blockchain remain robust for various use cases. Learning the underlying principles can open up diverse opportunities, provided one stays current with evolving trends and innovative applications.
