13 year old seeking cryptocurrency investment advice despite parental restrictions

Hey everyone, I’m 13 years old and really interested in getting into cryptocurrency trading. I’ve been watching videos and reading about it online and it seems like something I want to try. The problem is my parents are completely against it and won’t give me permission or help me set up any accounts. I don’t have much money saved up from my allowance either. I’m wondering if anyone here has been in a similar situation or has suggestions for how I could get started. Maybe someone could share their experience or point me in the right direction? I’m also curious if there are ways for minors to get involved in crypto safely. Any advice would be really helpful since I feel stuck right now and don’t know what my next steps should be.

Your parents are actually protecting you from serious financial risks. I started researching crypto around your age but couldn’t buy any until later - which was honestly a good thing since I had more time to understand how volatile these markets really are. Most legit crypto exchanges won’t let you trade until you’re 18 anyway. Even if you found a workaround for the parental consent thing, you’d still hit verification walls. The few platforms that do accept minors usually need guardian approval too. Focus on learning basic financial stuff first. Understanding economics, market psychology, and risk management will help you way more than jumping straight into crypto trading. Most successful traders studied for years before putting real money on the line. Here’s a better approach: learn about blockchain technology itself instead of just trading. Work through coding tutorials or dig into academic resources about how it actually works. This shows your parents you’re serious about understanding the field, not just chasing quick profits. Plus you’ll pick up valuable skills and might eventually earn more investment freedom by proving you’re responsible.

I get the frustration - parents blocking something that looks exciting sucks! What got you into crypto trading though? The profit potential from those videos or something else?

Did your parents give you actual reasons or just shut it down? Understanding their concerns might help you find a different approach.

What’s your endgame here? Quick money or genuinely wanting to understand blockchain and how crypto works? Because there are other ways to explore this without risking real cash yet.

Ever tried those crypto sim apps? You can practice trading with fake money, learn the basics, and show your parents you’re serious about understanding it properly. Plus crypto isn’t going anywhere - what’s the rush?

What if you pitched it as education first? Like learning the tech behind it instead of jumping straight into trading?

your parents are probably worried for good reason - crypto’s risky as hell and u can lose everything overnight. I’d start with regular investing instead. there’s tons of educational content on stocks and finance thatll be easier to sell them on. Plus, once ur 18 u can do whatever with ur money anyway.
