Hey everyone! I’m new to the world of blockchain and I’ve got some basic questions about NFTs and Ethereum. I hope you can help me out!
-
Are NFTs and Ether on the same blockchain? I’m confused about how it all fits together. Won’t the ledger get super big with all those transactions?
-
How much does it cost to make an NFT or run a simple smart contract? I’ve heard about gas fees, but I’m not sure how it all works. Will ETH2 make things cheaper?
-
Can anyone point me to some good resources for learning how to create and work with NFTs on Ethereum? Most books I’ve seen are just about money stuff.
I know these are probably super basic questions, but I’m just starting out and trying to wrap my head around it all. Thanks in advance for any help!
Let me share my experience with NFTs and Ethereum. Yes, both NFTs and Ether operate on the Ethereum blockchain. The ledger does grow, but advancements in data storage and node operation help manage this. Regarding costs, they fluctuate based on network congestion. I’ve minted NFTs for as low as $5 and as high as $100 in gas fees. ETH2 aims to reduce costs, but it’s not a guaranteed solution. For learning resources, I found the Ethereum Foundation’s website particularly helpful. They offer comprehensive guides on smart contracts and NFT creation. Additionally, consider exploring platforms like Rarible or Foundation to understand the NFT ecosystem better. Remember, practical experience often teaches more than theory in this rapidly evolving field.
hey there pixstar54! welcome to the awesome world of blockchain. i’m still learning too but i’ll try to help out
so nfts and ether are both on ethereum, yeah. it’s like one big playground for all kinds of digital stuff. the ledger does get pretty chunky but that’s why they have scaling solutions and stuff. still wrapping my head around it all tbh!
gas fees can be a pain sometimes. it really depends on how busy the network is. like sometimes it’s not too bad but other times… yikes! eth2 should help but who knows for sure ya know?
for learning about nfts, have you checked out opensea’s blog? they have some cool beginner guides. also, youtube has tons of tutorials if you’re more of a visual learner.
what kind of nfts are you interested in making? art? music? something else? always curious to hear what ppl are working on!
keep asking questions, that’s how we all learn. good luck on your blockchain journey!
yo pixstar54! ethereum’s like a big digital playground for ether n nfts. costs vary, gas fees can be crazy sometimes. eth2 might help but who knows lol. check out opensea’s blog for nft basics, youtube’s got tons of vids too. wat kinda nfts u wanna make? art? music? sumthin else? keep askin qs, we all learnin here!
