New to cryptocurrency investing - need advice

Hey everyone! I’ve been trading stocks for about two years now and I’m feeling pretty comfortable with that. But crypto is totally new territory for me and honestly it feels a bit overwhelming with all the different coins out there.

I’ve got around £1000 that I’m ready to put into crypto. I know it’s risky but I figure it’s time to diversify my portfolio a bit. The thing is, I have no idea where to start. Should I just go with Bitcoin? Are there other coins worth looking at? Any apps or platforms you’d recommend for a beginner like me?

I’d really appreciate any tips or advice from people who have been doing this longer than me. Thanks in advance!

coinbase or binance are great for newbies, trust me! don’t just throw in all £1000 at once, crypto can drop like a rock. maybe start with bitcoin & eth? watch how wild the swings are, then explore other coins later.

Nice, another stock trader jumping in! I made the same move 6 months ago and it’s been wild lol.

£1000’s a solid start. You planning to DCA or dump it all at once? Timing crypto is brutal - way more volatile than stocks as you know.

What’s your risk tolerance like? Stocks have patterns and fundamentals, but crypto swings 20% daily sometimes. You want established coins or thinking about smaller altcoins too?

I started with just Bitcoin and Ethereum to learn the exchanges and how differently this market moves. Everyone’s got their own approach though.

What made you jump in now? Something specific catch your eye or you’ve been thinking about it?

Switched from stocks to crypto and learned that sentiment matters way more than fundamentals here. With your £1000, I’d do 60% Bitcoin and Ethereum, then 40% on smaller projects once you get the hang of things. Kraken’s my go-to exchange—lower fees and more reliable than most others. Fair warning though: crypto trading gets addictive fast. Markets never close and the wild swings make you want to check constantly. Set your buys and force yourself to be patient while you figure out how different this market is.
