Hey everyone,
I was just thinking about the GS NFT Wallet and how it used to have some cool features that got restricted because of Apple’s policies for in-app purchases on iOS. Does anyone else remember that?
It’s kinda frustrating how app store rules can impact crypto wallets and NFT stuff. I’m curious:
- What features did you miss the most when they got removed?
- Did you switch to a different wallet because of this?
- Do you think there’s any way around these restrictions in the future?
Let me know your thoughts! It’d be interesting to hear how others dealt with this change.
yeah, that was a real pain when GS had to cut back. i miss being able to buy NFTs right in the app too. didn’t switch wallets either, but def use it less now.
apple’s got way too much control over apps. maybe they’ll chill out on crypto stuff eventually? who knows.
wat features u think would be cool in an nft wallet without restrictions? im curious wat others want
oh man, i totally remember that! it was such a bummer when GS had to cut back on some of the cool stuff in their wallet
i gotta say, i really missed the ability to buy NFTs directly in the app. it was so convenient before! now it feels like we have to jump through extra hoops just to get our hands on new collectibles.
i didn’t end up switching wallets cuz i still liked the overall interface of GS, but i definitely use it less now. have you found any good alternatives?
it’s wild how much power apple has over what apps can do. do you think there’s any chance they’ll loosen up on crypto/NFT stuff in the future? I’d love to see more innovation in this space without all the restrictions.
what do you think would be the ideal features for an NFT wallet if there were no app store limitations? i’m curious what other ppl are looking for in their wallets these days.
Indeed, the GS NFT Wallet restrictions were a significant setback. The limitation on direct NFT purchases was particularly inconvenient, forcing users to navigate external platforms. While I didn’t abandon the wallet entirely, its utility diminished considerably.
Apple’s stringent policies continue to hinder innovation in the crypto space. It’s unlikely we’ll see substantial changes soon, given their stance on in-app purchases and commissions. As for workarounds, some wallets are exploring web-based alternatives to circumvent app store limitations.
The ideal NFT wallet would seamlessly integrate purchasing, trading, and showcasing features. Unfortunately, until regulatory landscapes evolve or alternative distribution methods gain traction, we’re likely to face these obstacles in mobile wallet development.
