What is the method behind NFT functionality?

I’m fairly new to the world of NFTs and have some questions.

I’m trying to understand whether NFT collections get refreshed periodically, such as releasing new digital assets on an annual basis, or if one must acquire the NFTs that already exist. I’m a bit puzzled about whether new tokens continue to be produced or if the market is based solely on pre-existing items. Any detailed insights into how these digital assets are managed would be greatly appreciated.

i think nft minting is usually one-time, but some projects plan extras later on. it really depends on how the project was built and the developers’ roadmap. it’s not a strict annual refresh thing, more of a unique setup kinda.

hey lee_books, i’ve been digging into this as well! so from what i see nft projects generally start with a fixed supply - like the tokens are minted once and then it’s a marketplace deal. but some projects are super innovative and build in features where the digital asset can evolve or unlock new traits over time through smart contracts. it’s kinda like setting a rule right in the contract, so while the token itself isn’t reminted, its properties might change based on certain triggers. makes me wonder, what do you think would be a cool interactive feature to see in an nft? do u feel like this adds a layer of excitement for you? really interested to hear others’ takes too on whether this innovation is making a real difference in how we value the art and utility of these tokens.

My experience with various NFT projects indicates that most follow a fixed-mint model where tokens are created once and then circulate based on secondary markets. However, smart contracts can also enable additional functionality, allowing an NFT’s characteristics to be updated or unlocked over time. This approach relies on pre-set rules defined in the contract, offering an element of evolution without issuing more tokens. This design can enhance interactivity and uniqueness while keeping the initial supply fixed, depending on each project’s intentions.
